“I have worked with and known Greg Brodie for the past ten years, for the last three he has operated and ran my 3D motion capture system where he is currently the only accredited user in the UK. The level of work needed and the intellect required to pass and attain this level is exceptionally demanding which is one reason why Greg is currently the only coach to hold this recognition.
I have yet to meet a golf coach and member of the PGA who is as committed and aspired to improve his knowledge around all areas connecting to golf coaching, his level of enthusiasm and determination to improve is simply outstanding and I have yet to experience a coach who compares to this commitment to continual evolution of their education.
Some examples of this are Greg has travelled extensively across the globe, spending time with leading coaches in their areas in different nations in an attempt to evolve and improve. Perhaps his greatest success to date is his constant curiosity to finding better information, improved ways of delivering this information and a true innovation to becoming the best coach he can possibly be which is what makes Greg a simply unique and remarkable golf coach.
However, for me his greatest success is he is a far better human being than golf coach, perhaps this is something we should all aspire to be as with this approach he is an outstanding asset to the PGA”
Dr Mark Bull, PGA Professional, Presenter, World Renowned Golf Biomechanist, Managing Director.
"What comes across immediately when you meet Greg is his energy and enthusiasm, however while this makes him a pleasure to have a lesson with, it is not what makes him a great coach. The thing that makes Greg such an outstanding golf coach is the depth of thought that he has dedicated to how the mechanics of the game and player work and how to use that knowledge to achieve the results that each player wants.
Greg has coached myself and my ten year old son for a number of years and its only when you see him approach the same subjects in such different ways that you can truly understand the talent that Greg has for coaching. Greg is not really a golf teacher, he will rarely tell you what to do. Instead he helps you to understand what you are doing and then coaches you by providing the thoughts, insights and concepts that allow you to take the next step in improving your golf. This has a much more marked and long lasting impact on your game I believe.
I have been taught by a range of golf teachers over the years, but only with Greg have I experienced the ‘eureka’ moments that have not only improved my golf permanently but also increased my enthusiasm for the game".
Aaron Barnfather, Managing Director, Lazzard Asset Management
"Dear all, I just wanted to flag up today that I saw Greg Brodie (Senior Academy golf professional) complete a golf coaching session with Alan (and Lewis Wickham academy player at the same time) down at Burhill that was truly exceptional. The engagement, learning, care and skill displayed was the best piece of thoughtful coaching I have seen in a long time. I took a lot from it and was delighted to see Alan at his best.
I would welcome the opportunity to share with you all the content and tremendous success Greg had with Alan rather than not do it justice in a poor email description.
It was inspirational stuff and made my week.
Apologies Greg I am copying you in so feel suitably embarrassed and proud of that work today-top drawer"!
Ben Haining, Head of Physical Education, Reeds School, Cobham
"I began working with Greg almost a year ago now. He couldn’t have come more highly recommended but I wanted to ensure that I was placing my game in a steady set of hands and I can honestly say that I couldn’t be happier with the beginning of our relationship. His teaching does not stop when the lesson concludes. He’s always reachable via phone or online, as well as stopping to say hello around the golf club. Having a coach place so great an interest in you personally is not only flattering, but gives you confidence in your ability as a player.
Greg is both talented in advanced systems such as 3D motion capture and Trackman, but can also rely on a great catalogue of experience to engage with more abstract teaching, away from the numbers. Having a coach with such a broad repertoire of teaching expertise is not only incredibly useful, but also reassuring. The confidence I have in the concepts we discuss in our lessons is immense and I know that the journey we have embarked on is both sure and considered. Greg is quick to understand the golfer from their position and needs and then tailor his coaching to these which underpins his great teaching style. I have no doubt that with Greg as my instructor, my potential can be unlocked".
Joshua Grey, single figure handicap golfer
"I decided to seek Greg's assistance to improve my golf after a number of favourable recommendations.
Amiable, professional and clearly very talented. Greg provides superb coaching sessions that have reignited my passion for playing at a elite professional level. His innovative coaching sessions linked with his team around him enable me to better understand my bodies physical strengths and limitations before engaging in swing changes. Never before have I had such clarity on my golf swing.
After 17 years of golf lessons not once was I told by PGA professionals what Greg explained and delivered in our first two hour session!
His philosophy in my mind is to find the physical root cause of a swing fault through physical screening and 3D imaging and develop the swing from there. Why have a lesson with a golf pro who uses his opinion to teach you when you can use facts written in black and white? There is no guesswork with 3D golf and it has revolutionized my golf swing and my understanding of my swing!"
Torie James Blakemore, Australasian Tour Professional, PGA Level 2 Cert
"My first interaction with Greg came about through a combination of curiosity and despondency. Firstly, I was despondent with the progress of my golf after two years of consistent lessons, and did not feel that I had made significant progress other than to have built an aesthetically pleasing swing that did not deliver consistent results. Secondly, I had seen Greg coaching other players and was intrigued by the amount of technology he employed to assist with his teaching.
I found Greg extremely approachable and was impressed by his genuine interest in my game. It is fair to say that my first lesson was something of a revelation and in the space of an hour Greg had given me a real answer as to the cause of my bad shots, something which I now understand had been misdiagnosed by several coaches over the years. In providing this answer Greg utilised some very high-tech equipment to understand my true swing flaws, but the key for me was that the explanation that followed was delivered in an extremely simple and understandable manner.
I feel that my understanding of my golf swing and what I need to do to improve has come on massively since I started working with Greg, and I am confident that I will see significant improvements in every aspect of my game as I continue to work with him."
Oliver Donaldson, Club Golfer
"My experience as Caolan's dad has been fascinating, watching how Greg has empowered Caolan and taught him to own his swing. He understands when things go wrong how to fix them as he plays - an extremely valuable skill. His game has been transformed and he is developing into a very mature golfer despite only playing for 2 years. Greg has so much energy and enthusiasm its infectious and it's a pleasure to be involved, watch and see the progress Caolan makes, always with a big smile".
Mark Burford - proud Dad and observer of Caolan (Wales North Academy National Squad)
“I have known Greg for 5 years and in that time I have not met another PGA Professional with a greater thirst for knowledge and desire to learn and improve his knowledge of the game. His passion is unrivalled and he will certainly leave no stone unturned in ensuring that he keeps himself on the very forefront of modern coaching.
When you spend time with Greg it’s like you’re tapping into a golf specific encyclopaedia, you feel he can answer any question you have".
Highly recommended for golfers of all abilities”
Paul Creamer, Head PGA Professional - Foxhills Resort, PGA South Captain
"After seriously falling for the game only a few years ago and deciding to invest everything I could into the game, I found myself at rock bottom when a lack of improvement and any sort of progression failed to materialise. So many people were telling me of the great talent and potential I had. This made it all the more frustrating, and worst of all no longer enjoyable; to a point where I wouldn't of been able to carry on without a serious change of action.
After numerous expensive equipment changes, several PGA pros, and well-intended on-course advice from playing partners I read an article about Greg in the ‘Surrey Golfer’ magazine which triggered curiosity about his fresh new approach to the game, so I contacted him for his help.
After an initial observational round, just getting to know each other and to evaluate where we should head next, I found Greg to be the only coach that had listened to everything I said. He was the first professional that seemed to have all the answers to my questions and ways to deal with these queries.
He was able to tell me what was actually happening, something no one else to this point was able to do, calming my already troubled golfing brain with clear concise plans and actions on how to deal with what was going on in a very simple way that wasn't patronising, complicated, or most importantly incorrect.
It immediately put my mind at ease and allowed to focus on the most simple and effective ways of dealing with myself, my swing, and anything else we wanted to work out.
After a further couple of sessions on the Bull 3D systems we had identified some points of interest in my posture and swing motion which hadn't previously been identified. It would be difficult to see without the immediate feedback of a system like this. But just as importantly as the diagnosis is Greg’s understanding of the human body and your own ‘genetic swing’, movement strategy or systems and how to make it work the best it can.
With immediate improvements from the off I now am back to progressing every round in all areas, I work better, I think better, I'm swinging better. But more important than that I enjoy the game as much as did that first day I walked out onto the course".
Scott Elms - Surrey Club Golfer
"Greg has worked in partnership with our biomechanical physiotherapy services with great results. He is keen to learn the possible restrictions to body function and blends adaptation via physio treatment to movement patterns in to swing concept with careful and considered communication. He is the link between clients functionally moving better and understanding why and how it can change their golf. He operates on a different level from many other coaching professionals who have used our services".
The Bodymechanics Physiotherapy Team
Having worked with previous coaches who with no doubt improved my game, I needed somebody who could take me to the next level and where I wanted to go.
A few playing partners and friends from various clubs, appreciated my ability but understood my frustrations. I needed somebody to unlock the door for me, they all said the same thing! You need to see Greg!!!....so I did!
I had heard a lot about this guy and his reputation for being one of the countries elite, and how he was now one of the most qualified in the UK, so it made sense to go and have a session with him.
From the first moment I met Greg I knew this guy had the answers to my questions and this was what I had been looking for.
The way he spoke about his theories and his practices enthused and excited me. However, what struck me most was the obvious enthusiasm he has for the game.
I had never heard of 3D systems and was excited to find out how it worked and how I could finally put to bed some of the un-answered questions that had plagued me for so long, and was hopeful that I could finally find a solution that had eluded me for so long and that I had been searching for. I have now been working with Greg for 9 months and have only scratched the surface, not only am I hitting the ball better than I have ever done, I am a more complete golfer, I think differently! I play better, my approach and attitude is better, my knowledge and understanding is far better,
Greg’s methods and theories of teaching are undoubtedly second to none, I know where I’m going with Greg and what we can both achieve through this ongoing journey together.
Greg is more than just a guy who I just see to improve my game, he’s a friend and someone I trust and believe in! I can call him anytime to just chat about my day, what and how I’m feeling. If I have had a poor day at work and just want let off steam he is always there to listen and help you put things into perspective.
I cannot thank him enough for all his time and knowledge to date and I very much look forward to the future journey together.
Russell Payne, Club Golfer
"As a Surrey County Coach I have worked alongside Greg Brodie for the past six years. During this time we have planned and delivered County training sessions for the Surrey under 16s squad and I have always been impressed with Greg's knowledge, willingness to learn and dedication to constantly push the boundaries of modern day coaching.
This journey has taken him down the route of Physical Profiling, Trakman, 3D Biomechanical Screening, Green Mapping and PGA level 4 Coaching Certification to name just a few. His desire to improve does not stop there as he rarely misses the opportunity to travel in order to gain experience or knowledge. In recent years he has travelled from Melbourne, Australia to spend time at the Victoria Institute of Sporting Science to Florida, Toronto and Houston to work with some of the best in the game.
Greg also takes on such roles as organising and presenting the Surrey Coaching Conference in 2012. I personally know it took a huge amount of effort and time to organise speakers of substance and an audience to turn up and pay. The speakers were excellent and all enjoyed the two days. Another example of Greg's restlessness to improve is that despite being involved with the Surrey Boys Squad he also is the Lead Coach for the Surrey Girls Squad and has recently taken on the role of Coach to the Welsh Boys. All examples of Greg’s dedication to coaching.
In conclusion I'm always amazed at how much time and effort Greg puts into developing his coaching skills but for me the most important observation that I can make is that in the last year Greg's ability to communicate his knowledge in a way that is relevant and understandable to the pupil has improved dramatically. As a senior professional it is a privilege to work with Greg as I tend to learn a huge amount when spending time with him".
Lee Muclow, Head of Windlesham Golf Academy, Lead Coach Surrey County under 17's, 16's, 15' Squads
"Over the past couple of months Greg has been the best coach a golfer could ask for. His team around him cover every aspect of the game and his own knowledge and method of coaching only makes you come away from each session feeling closer to your goal. His method of coaching is the best I've experienced. He ultimately makes the student work out for themselves how to solve the problem rather than just dictating to them how. Greg has a great understanding of how to make each individual better and gives each individual 100% in and out of sessions. Greg is a great asset to myself and for anyone who is looking to improve their game to the best it can be".
Matt Waters, Scratch Handicap, Abu Dubai
"Greg is so different to many coaches. He personalises the instruction to meet the individual student’s needs. He is also a real expert at giving the golfer 'ownership' and understanding of their own golf swing instead of just delivering traditional teaching. Greg’s students are encouraged to help themselves develop with his support throughout. Greg’s network of other professionals include physiotherapists and biomechanics experts, ensuring that the technical instruction is supported by physical development and injury prevention. The technology at Greg’s disposal is second to none, especially the Trackman and 3D systems. I can’t recommend Greg highly enough".
Peter Yearsley, Club Golfer
"Greg was the first coach I've worked with who didn't immediately jump to change my swing or narrowly focus on my long game technique. Instead he wanted to assess my physical capabilities first with the help of his physio contacts and then use detailed tournament statistics to assess where real improvements could come.. All of this speak to a true 'coach' rather than just another swing teacher intent on booking the next lesson".
Greg truly cares about all of his students irrespective of ability and the path that he follows for each player is diverse and bespoke. For golfers looking to become better at actually playing the game and shooting lower scores rather than just swinging better, Greg is the perfect coach."
Duncan Hodgson, +2 Handicapped Club Golfer.
“I have known and worked alongside Greg with Surrey Golf for nearly 10 years. We also work together at Reeds School in Cobham. Greg is an excellent coach and is one my Lead coaches in the U18 Development squad. This is an important group within our County, as it feeds players directly into the Boys Tournament squad and hopefully then into the County First Team.
Greg is a great student of the game and I don’t know anyone who puts as much effort into researching new ideas and techniques to pass onto the players to explore. Greg is a great person to be around and to work with and alongside, he manages a busy work schedule to be a devoted family man to his wife and children. I would have no hesitation in recommending Greg to be promoted within the ranks of our proud organisation”.
John Noble, AA PGA Advanced Professional, Head Coach, Surrey County Golf, Head Regional Coach for England Golf, South Region U16, PGA South Region Coach of the year 2015.
“I have been with Greg since I was just a beginner at the age of just 14. I am now a
professional golfer and the biggest thing that sets him apart from other teaching pros, aside from his vast knowledge of the game as a whole, is his infectious enthusiasm. Greg has a great way to really get the feelings of what we’re trying to achieve in the golf swing. Greg has helped me enormously over the years and I’m looking forward to working with him in the coming months to really take my game forward”.
Martin Janssen PGA Professional
"Greg is an amazing coach with a super friendly and positive outlook. He is both grounded and professional. Though we don't know each other outside of golf, I'd like to think he's a good friend too.
By chance, a friend of mine had booked Greg to join us out on a course one day. Little did I know that I would still be working with Greg years later, continuing to make improvements to my game and my swings.
I think the standout for me about Greg, and why I continue to see him, is this: He gets to know you, as a person, as a player and as an athlete. He learns about you, and what makes you tick. (In my case, he knew I was interested in learning more about the game and my swing, and he recommended reading material for me to take up in my spare time.) "Self-learning" is a big thing for him, and therefore you too. He gets to know your psychological and emotional connection to the game. He dives into the reasons for your playing golf. Like all good coaches he gets to know how well or not you play golf, and the steps required to make improvements. And he understands better than most your athletic and physiological capabilities and limitations.
Where has this got me? I was a full handicapper before I started with Greg. Now, I've completely changed my approach to the game. I know what I need to achieve, and what my next goals are. Today, I have a very respectable swing. I understand more than ever how my body controls the club and club face at impact, and the resultant changes required to make improvements. Working with Greg on Trackman has been a revelation this year! I love golf more than ever, and I love improving my game. I owe this, in large part, to Greg and his great capability to get his students - be they high handicappers like me or European Tour pro's - to see the way forward for themselves."
Paul Zimmerman, Club Golfer
"Over many years I have had plenty of golf lessons with golf pros with some success, only to return six to twelve months later to cover the same old ground because my original faults have returned. I first had some lessons with Greg about 18 months ago covering long game, short game, putting etc. Greg’s philosophy isn't about standing in a driving range smacking ball after ball, he spends time on the golf course with you, and gives you the ammunition to improve your game without telling where and how to swing the club, just a few basic pointers and drills without over complicating your swing, and some help with the mental side of the game as well. The most important thing is that what Greg has taught me has stuck, and has become permanent so much so that I’ve been so pleased with my golf this year that I haven’t felt the need to go back for more lessons… but the desire to push on to the next level spurs me on and I now feel confident that Greg is the right coach for me. I have no hesitation in recommending him".
Mark Young, Club Golfer
"My view on golf and the way I approach the game has dramatically changed in the last 3 months. Not because I found a new feel or found a new club-I found the facts, the cold hard truths that I couldn't get around and that is all down to Greg. I turned professional when I was 18 and 9 years later I haven't progressed.....yet. I was treading water looking for quick fixes trying to make a living with never getting to the route of the problems. I never truly understood my game and this is where my relationship with Greg began. We talked for a while and he asked me some tough questions of myself. Greg isn't like your average club professional and "golf guru". I can honestly say, hand on heart, I have never met a coach that has studied the game to an academic level like he has. His hunger for knowledge is remarkable and the way he gets his notion across is always clear and to the point. Greg uses several high tec aids to help his teaching, and this is all to your benefit, as you know what you are dealing with are the facts. However, Greg won't just improve you driving, iron play, short game and putting, but he will also improve your course management, fitness and nutrition, and stat keeping.
I have no doubt Greg will improve my game and he will help me get me to where I want to be.
If you are serious about the game and serious about being the best golfer you can be, Greg Brodie is the man to get you there".
Charlie Simpson, Golf Professional
"Greg Brodie has been coaching my son in the Golf Union of Wales scheme for over 6 months now. During that time we have benefited not only from Greg’s enthusiasm and positive outlook, but also from his carefully structured approach to coaching, supported by personalised video clips to reflect light on different areas of my son’s game. He embraces a full range of traditional techniques and pairs these with the most up to date technology available, giving my son a full spectrum of ‘tools’ to take his golf to the best it can be. I have been so impressed with Greg’s approach and commitment, but most of all how his attitude and relationships that he builds with his squad have brought out the best in them.”
Paul Simpson, father to Charlie, (Welsh North Academy Squad Member)
"I first met Greg at a Surrey short game coaching day in 2014. I liked his approach to coaching which was less prescriptive than traditional lessons. I liked the way he demonstrated using stats how a neutral shaft, square set-up and in-to-out path produced better chips, rather than playing the ball back in the stance with a downward strike using the wedge's leading edge. He then left it to us to discover this for ourselves, encouraging us to be curious rather than being told how to chip. I have always felt there was a smart way to practise and Greg's coaching methods tie in with that.
As for the long game, I have held the belief for some time that a good swing path should be easier to achieve than it is, and might have something to do with some physical limitations which I couldn't isolate. At my first long game lesson with Greg he agreed that there were physical issues limiting my ability to achieve a good backswing position and suggested I see a physio he recommended. The physio located the causes of my misalignment quite quickly and I have seen a great improvement in flexibility for some two months now. In my view this holistic approach to coaching is what sets Greg apart from other coaches, and I am looking forward to continuing my lessons and excited about my future golf."
Kathleen Lucey, Club Golfer
"As a 5 handicap golfer finding a new golf coach is never easy however, I have been working with Greg for a while and have found the combination of simple instruction coupled with the technical backup of Trackman / 3D analysis to be second to none.
Greg and his team provide a blend of effective technical coaching, intelligent practise regimes, ongoing physical assessment and round by round analysis of your game all of which provide clear goals for the golfer to work towards.
I look forward to working with Greg and his team over the coming months and celebrating achieving my golfing goals".
Steve Holmes, Club Golfer
"Greg is the real deal. He'll coach and instruct YOU as an individual. Highly qualified PGA coaches are ten a penny. Greg stands apart. He dispels the countless myths in golf instruction. His insight is much broader than the PGA has to offer. His knowledge is deeper than the tired old one size fits all 'fundamentals'. He has an evidence based approach, based on keen observation of you. He'll give you a framework that works for you. "
Shane Samarawikrema, Club Golfer
"Finding a good golf coach is not easy these days especially someone as experienced as Greg. I have been working with Greg now for a number of years and his approach to the game is second to none. Greg is a very diverse coach in all aspects of the game. He has a vast knowledge base ranging from short game, mental approach to the physical work. Golf just isn't about swinging and hitting a ball. Greg won't leave any stone unturned in order for you to reach your goal. What I can say is that if your willing to show commitment and work at your game, Greg will give a lot back and is always fully committed, both during and after your coaching session. I look forward to many years ahead with Greg. The goals for 2015 have been set and I couldn't think of a better coach to get to the finish line for 2015."
Richard Corscadden, Club Golfer
"My son has worked with Greg for over a year , it has been a very different journey compared to previous coaching sessions.
The lessons have been very different. We do not feel that we constantly need to see Greg, our sessions are interactive, he gives us honest criticism, his coaching sessions are a two way process. Greg has coached Aadam according to his ability, in the past when we had a problem our coach gave us a fix, I found this fixing process to be temporary. Working with Greg is different because he has empowered Aadam to seek solution, I feel that he is in better a better position to identify his problems.
I like his approach, he has accommodated his goals and made him believe that he can achieve these even though they may look impossible. Greg has treated Aadam as a professional golfer. He has addressed areas which can harm his future play and ability in an endeavour to keep him injury free.
When Aadam started with Greg he could play golf however he did not know how to play golf, his coaching has given him an understanding of how the game should be played. His achievements this year are a combination of his hard work and Greg's massive input. As a result he has been selected to the EGU under16 south region squad at the age of 13 which in it's self is recognition of Greg's coaching approach. I feel that he is in good shape and can is now able to handle himself on a bigger stage.
I feel Aadam has a better understanding of his game as Greg has empowered him to seek solution when thing have not gone well. His communicating skills prompt him to find solution and his guidance makes it permanent, we feel that Aadam is not over coached but better coached".
S. Syeed, Father Of Aadam, Aged 13, Scratch Golfer
"Greg Brodie is a real Student of the Game Of Golf. We have known Greg for just over 12 months when Arrun became a member of Foxhills GC.
We have found his methods sound, concise and realistic. His approach is thorough looking at physiology and biomechanics to achieve the best possible golf swing.
I would recommend him unreservedly to anyone looking to improve their golf game.
He is well equipped to work at all levels of the game, his knowledge and teaching is easy to understand and put into practice to keep on improving on each visit.
Greg’s teaching adds to improvements in Arrun’s swing as well as confidence and belief in his swing improvements. Hence enhancing his competition performance.
Although we are only 8 months into working with Greg we feel we are on the correct journey to our desired destination and with the continuation of Greg’s coaching we feel we can achieve all of Arrun’s goals".
Hamey Singh Brar, Father Of Arrun, Scratch Golfer
"Having worked for a short time with Greg and his team on my golf, I have been more than impressed with his coaching methods and approach to changing my golf swing. He has a vast knowledge of all aspects of the swing and really understands what the body needs to do to create a repeatable, effective movement. Greg and his team have given me things to work on with a club in my hand and equally as important, the correct things to work on in the gym. He is very open minded and always keen to here different views and thoughts, which to me is essential as there is no one correct way to play golf or swing the club. He is completely up to date with his teaching methods and use of technology, introducing me to Trackman and a 3D body system which has helped me to understand further, what my body needs to do to create a better swing and ultimately hit the ball better.
James Craven-Bartle, Golf Professional
"I have worked with Greg this season, and it has been a very different experience to any coaching previous.
We have covered all aspects, long game, short game, physical work, the mental side of the game, not a stone has been left un-turned. This helped with the use of all the technology Greg has at his disposal.
I would recommend to any golfer looking to improve their game, that they go and see this man and let him work his magic!"
Liam Crawford , Golf Professional
"I have been working with Greg since the summer and I have thoroughly enjoyed working with him. Greg has a vast knowledge and expertise in all areas of the game. Greg is very enthusiastic and only wants the best for you. I would highly recommend Greg Brodie and looking forward to continuing our journey together this winter and onto next year."
David Callaway, Golf Professional
"I have been working with Greg for the last four months, l have been amazed with the improvement in all departments of my game, he has helped me understand swing mechanics with the use of Trackman and the 3D system. A fantastic coach who really cares about your game, l would recommend him to anyone"
Peter Blyfield, Golf Professional
Greg has had a huge influence in my golf over the last year 15 months, not only has a got huge knowledge on the game and the swing he surrounds himself with a great team who all work as one to make the player a complete package. If you want somebody that will care about your golf as much as you care yourself Greg is your man.
Gus Mottershead, Golf Professional
"I have been working with Greg for about 2 years now and have seen a big improvement in my golf game. Over that time I have grown to understand the importance of how my swing works so that when I am not with him I can work on thoughts and processes both on the range and on course. Our partnership has grown to encompass the complete game and complete golfer, as a result I am more able to shoot my handicap which has been coming down.
Greg’s knowledge of the golf swing and his thirst for more makes him a rather unique coach. If and only if he thinks it will benefit you directly will he recommend you going to see other experts in his team. From Putting Guru to Physiotherapist to Biomechanics through to dieticians; if will assist you in meeting your goals he will recommend them. But above all it is his belief in concentrating on the processes and not outcomes which will have you coming back for more".
Simon Turner, Club Golfer
“Greg is an outstanding coach and an excellent communicator. His knowledge is broad and
detailed, allowing him to take the best from current thinking and tailor it to an individual. As a result, my knowledge of my own swing and the results it is delivering on the course has never been better and that’s thanks to the patience and commitment of Greg as we continue to work through some key changes in my swing. He has the ability to communicate things in a way that makes sense to me, allowing my practise later to become more productive. I would recommend Greg 100% and look forward in continuing working with him”.
Andrew Wilcocks – Director IBM
“Greg has a great enthusiasm for the game of golf and has spent many years helping me
improve. He has a huge amount of knowledge on every aspect of golf and is by far the best
coach I have ever come across”.
Ryan O'Shea, PGA Professional
“Greg is very analytical in his approach, I have found him very straightforward and direct, with good clear feedback at all stages. I am a complete novice at the game”.
Trevor, Club Golfer
“My name is Sam Robertshawe I am 20 years old and I am a current member of the England A squad. I first came to Greg (recommended by close friends) about a year ago in search of an in-depth knowledge of the golf swing. I soon found Greg had what I was looking for as his knowledge and understanding was second to none and more importantly he made it easy for me to understand it and apply it. Since seeing Greg I have had a lot of SUCCESS including being selected to represent England in Helsinki, finishing as best international player in 4th overall position and have also a member of the England A squad. As well as Greg being a great coach, he’s also become a good friend and makes sure even outside of lesson time that you’re progressing in the right direction. There’s no more to say than I look forward to working more with Greg in the future”.
Sam Robertshawe England Player
“After being taught by Greg I can honestly say I have a better understanding of what is incorporated into a golf swing. In Greg’s lesson’s you learn more than just the manner in which you move the club. You gain so much more than that, you learn the way in which your body moves and what ways that will affect you within your career. You also learn the way the swing affects the ball and why the ball does what it does.
These lessons are different, in the fact although there is a lot more information being put forward you don’t find yourself frazzled after. You seem to know all you need to do just with all the facts to support it. Unlike before I come away from lessons having all the relevant information I need to progress but without the need to know all the numbers and data.
I believe this new philosophy is the way forward as it doesn’t look at just the game the player has, it also looks at his physical and mental wellbeing which in a game with so many strains on this area it needs to be addressed at the start of any progression through a sport as the progression may hit a wall if it sees the player injured or broken mentally due to the game."
Alex MacDonald - 2 Handicap Club Golfer
"Over the years I have seen numerous coaches, but Greg is a breath of fresh air with his enthusiasm and understanding of golf. The use of the 3D Biomechanics to show you what your body is really doing, while consulting with a physio to see what your body is actually able to do is a real must for any golfer that wants to improve or lengthen the time they can enjoy this great game for.
Most coaches will tell you to feel something, but everyone's body works differently and feels differently so no two people will really feel the same thing. Greg enables sound indications from the technology to show you where is or not the right position to be in and in turn that allows you to find what the feeling is for yourself and then once you know what that feeling it is, you can work away and implement changes confidently and effectively."
David Williams, Club Golfer
"I have been working with Greg for the past two and a half years. When I started with Greg I could barely hit a golf ball.Since then I have been part of the under 16 England south squad and played for Surrey and from no handicap to playing of 8 and none of that would have happened without Greg coaching me. Greg does not just teach you how to get around a golf course but how your body works and makes you able to teach yourself because you do not always have a coach with you which I think is really important. As a coach he takes his players very personally he wants them to be the best they can be and really drives them to achieve their goals".
Jess Adams, Foxhills Foundation Member
"Our daughter Jess started being taught by Greg Brodie just over two years ago
Jess has gone from a complete novice to a girl who eats and breathes golf.
Greg has inspired Jess to experiment with her golf, solve her own problems on the course and instilled discipline when practising.
He continues to develop his own teaching skills and shows his students that you should keep self developing.
We have been completely impressed with Greg's dedication and teaching skills"
Jenny Adams, parent of Jess Adams
"Greg Brodie has, after six months of coaching, given my eleven year old son the tools to understand and work on his swing dynamics himself. He knows what he aims to achieve and has the drills to work on and the capacity for self-analysis and self-adjustment. His swing has as a result been gradually but steadily improving. All without prescriptive teaching! Indeed my son Kalyan will choose when to return for his next session when he feels he has concrete improvement to demonstrate!!! Greg likes to say that a great coach aims to make himself redundant. Temporarily, he had done just that. And there is no greater testimonial, I believe, to the excellent standard of his coaching than this. To give the gift and tools of self-managed improvement to such a young golfer."
Natasha Reddy - mother of Kaylan
"Greg calls upon both his extensive, highly-educated, golfing expertise and a team of selected experts to deliver the finest coaching you could wish for.
His approach is to understand all aspects of your game and deliver considered, tailored, highly relevant teaching methodologies, supported by technology where appropriate, whilst guiding and allowing his students to self-learn how to improve their games.
I cannot recommend Greg highly enough. If you're serious about improving and developing knowledge of your whole game, Greg is without doubt the right coach for you."
Tim Howard, 2 handicap, club golfer
"When I met Greg for the first time I only had an hour with him and I found it all overwhelming and had to take some time to think over all the information. But his knowledge and understanding of the game is the NEXT LEVEL and really puts it how it is. “How good do you want to be”. And its true, if someone is doing it then what are you doing to be better than them.
“Kaizen” Japanese philosophy of, continuous improvement to become greater.
This is one of his philosophies that he taught me during our second lesson. I now use this philosophy every day whether its golf related or not and it also gives me confidence that with him on my team I can do this.
If you’re really keen for improving and becoming a more knowledgeable smart player, then Greg is the man to start working with.
I’ve only been working with Greg for the last 2 months and have already changed my approach to the way I play and practice.
Whenever I finish a lesson with G I always feel so excited about what’s to come over the next 3 years and more."
Cameron Phillips, +2 Handicap Club Golfer
"Greg has a unique coaching style that has allowed me to not only improve my game, but also to understand it. Greg's approach to a lesson involves him helping you to understand what you are doing, and then supporting you to develop an alternative with his help, all backed up by significant amounts of data to remove the guesswork. This has allowed me to develop my game and make changes in a permanent way, which is very different to experiences I have had with other coaches.
Greg's enthusiasm is also what stands him out from other coaches. Whilst he has a breadth and depth of knowledge of the mechanics of the game, he will also take the time to understand a players individual habits and movement patterns. It is an absolute pleasure to have lessons with him."
Yaad Virdee, Club Golfer
"All I can say is a big thank to Greg for his enthusiasm and hard work in helping Zain get to this point of his Golf journey. Over the past 4 years Greg has taken Zain from a very talented Junior Golfer to one that has made great leaps and bounds and who can now compete at a national level. The many aspects he has instilled have made Zain take a far more professional approach which he takes forward to help him develop even further mentally and physically."
Sol Ahmed, father of Zain, single figure handicapped club golfer
"As Albert Einstein says the definition of insanity is to do the same thing over and over again and expect different results. Well it had been nearly 25 years since my last lesson when I was a junior golfer and my game hadn’t progressed in the intervening years. I have been working with Greg for over 2 years and through the application of professional advice and technology I am seeing improvement across all aspects of my game.
Arriving up for the first lesson I was challenged as to what my goals were. I didn’t have a clear goal never minds goals. I was looking for a quick MOT of my swing to see if there were any quick fixes that could eliminate some wasteful shots from my scorecard. Greg explained that there were, not surprisingly multiple solutions but they had to be dictated by how much I wanted to change my game and realistically the time I could devote to making any changes a success. If I could only play golf at the weekends and had limited time to practice then radical changes were more than likely going to see deterioration in my standard of play and reduced enjoyment as a result.
As others have noted, Greg has invested in technology and with Trackman he was able to improve my ball striking from the very first lesson. Since then we have worked on different aspects of my game including the mental side and crucially course management.
Like many keen golfers I’ve read articles in magazines or watched tips on TV or Youtube. Taking these swing thoughts to the course is not a simple task. There is no substitute for having a highly qualified pair of eyes providing feedback and reaffirming that what you are actually trying to do is what you are actually doing. At times some of the drills or explanations of new techniques have not made immediate sense to me. Greg has then approached the task from a different optic explaining the point in a way that I was able to understand and apply.
2 years on my consistency has improved, my confidence to hit a wider variety of shots is better and I have shot my lowest round in 20 years. There is still room to improve.
I’m now a convert to investing in lessons rather than buying new equipment in the search for lower scores.

"Since falling back in love with the game of golf 5 years ago and throwing in my 3 cards at my home club North Hants to get my handicap back, which at the time seemed way too high, coming from a handicap of 2 back in 2006/2007 to be given a handicap of 9 in 2011. I managed to get this down to 6 over the winter period but just found myself in a rut and couldn't get back what I had. We get older, body shape changes, long commutes into work etc.
I went to see Greg in 2012 when he was based at Pine Ridge and we set to work on building a stable swing, one that would see me have the ability to play golf into retirement age. I wanted a swing that wasn't manipulated, one that's not going to cause unnecessary injuries. Over the following year we set to work and the handicap fell to 4.6, so we were heading in the right direction.
At the start of the 2014 season, things got off to a rocky start, I blame it on the long cold wet winter days we have and its not always ideal to hit balls. However myself and Greg carried on working on our long term game plan and something just clicked in the May of 2014 when I shot my first competitive under par round in a very long time, we knew things were going in the right direction.
Life generally has a way of giving you a little and then taking some back, or in my case giving me a little and then me having to give something back. My brother was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) back on bonfire night in 2010. I'd always said he could have one of mine if I was a match. I was a perfect match so things looked good, but its never always as easy as you think, I'd have various other tests though 2013-2014 and was given the all clear to donate, an operation date of 23 June 2014 was set. Golf was not a priority during the next 12 weeks. I was advised not to even swing a club until I had healed internally. I managed to finish the season off with a handicap of 3.9 and my last event that year was June 14th. No more competitive golf was played that year, so it was a very short season Which in some ways was good as it gave me time to re-group and focus on my longer term goals along with my health. I had no idea how I'd come back in 2015 with 4 keyhole scars on my lower back and a 3-4 inch scare on my lower abdomen. Who knows how the surgery would have affected the way I swing a club.
I last wrote a short testimonial for Greg back in 2014 and my golf has certainly progressed since. During the 2015 season I could really see my game improving, I managed another two W's in 2015. The first of them being level par and the second another sub-par round. I also joined the mid-am circuit in 2015 and felt like I could compete in some of the events I was entering, but early on in the season I couldn't quite sustain the 36 hole concentration required, I manage to put in one low round and then blow up on the final 18. This had to be addressed! I didn't feel like it was a confidence issue, I knew I could do it, but old habits die hard I guess. Greg got me on trackman and we got the 3d system hooked up and we looked at ways to improve again, in both my swing and mentally.
I knew Greg had been working with Mark Bull for some time, and Greg suggested we start looking at some posture belt work round May 2015. I set to work straight away, headed off to the gym with belts in hand. I managed to put in two low 70 rounds in the Hankley mid-am that year and the work we had been putting in with the belt and spikey balls felt like it was coming together and I really felt like I had so much more space and time to hit the ball. My goal for 2015 was a 1 handicap, I finished the season on 2.1 after initially getting down to 1.5. However I won 2 events & the Order of merit at my home club. Things where still on the up.
I set myself 4 goals in 2016.
1. To win another competition.
2. To get to scratch
3. To play in the Gerald Micklem at Sunningdale Golf Club
4. To make Mid-Am the Tour Finals day (This is all points based and due to work commitments I am limited to about 8 events a year from a potential 25)
I knew I had to get to scratch before the August closing date for Sunningdale as this event usually ballots in the region of 0.2-0.3. I kept saying to myself just keep doing what you have been doing and let your swing dictate your score. Handicaps are just a number of how well your playing at that moment of time.
Another slow start to 2016, maybe this is something Greg & I need to look into for 2017, and I crept back to 2.7. I kept working on getting myself set in the right position and ensuring that I had none or very minimal lateral sway in my swing as this is something we've been working on very hard on over the last 2 years. It had to be eradicated to get rid of the errant shots.
I wasn't worried about the slow start as I knew it was only a matter of time before the old muscles loosened up and I'd start to get back into the swing of things again. I managed to finish 4th in my first Mid-Am event of 2016 and the handicap came straight back to 2 (2.3), the confidence built from there with another sub-par round at my home club to take the same Board comp I won in 2015. Handicap to 1.8. My first national event loomed in June, the Welsh Mid-Am!
I spoke with Greg a few weeks prior to this and we agreed that walking the course the day before and making notes was the best prep for this event. It wasn't possible to get a practice round leading up to the event as its just too far to travel and besides I am not a fan of playing a course the day before a competition, mainly because on the day the course is set up different, speed of greens, different pins, tee's pushed back etc. I got to the venue the afternoon prior to the event and settled in. I hit a few balls on the range and spend an hour on the short game area and then went and had a pint while I had a look at the course guide. The course was quiet by the time I'd finished so I set out on my rekkie.
The welsh is a 54 hole event over 2 days with a cut after the first 36. With sores of 72-74-66 to finish on a 4 under par total, got me 5th spot in my first national title. The last 3-4 years work was clearly starting to pay off and come together.
Scratch was lurking and I tried not to think about it as my next focus was The Logan Trophy (English Mid-Am). Another event I'd never played in before. This year it was held at Brokenhurst manor Golf club, a lovely course in the New Forest. Another rekki was required the weekend before and again I didn't take the clubs just took in the course and walked with the course guide. I was tied 3rd after the 1st day shooting a 69. Its top 45 and ties that go through to the final day, I managed to shoot 69/77/76 to finish tied 30th. Not the final 2 rounds I'd have liked, but these things happen and I was happy to make the cut in my first English event. We had a chuckle at the end of it as although I managed to get to 0.3 after my first round, scratch. I didn't actually play off it as went back .2 for the final 2 rounds.
I didn't have much time off after this and had a run of 3 36 hole events in a 10 day period. This along with a busy work schedule was a little too much, but I trusted my swing, ensured I was hydrated on the course and managed to get through the 3 events by only losing .1 on the handicap. A good schedule is something that needs to be looked going forward. The big question was will 0.6 get me into Sunningdale? It did and I got in as the 60th spot, with a maximum playing field of 60 players.
The focus was purely now on Sunningdale, I withdrew from an event the weekend before Sunningdale and focused on the fine tuning of my game. I looked at my weakness which was bunker play and spent a few hours a week in the practice bunker at North Hants and continued with the long game practice, posture belt, strength & flexibility work in the gym.
As Sunningdale GC is pretty local to me, and a practice round was included in the entry fee. I thought on this occasion I'd be mad not to make the most of it and had a good look round "Sunningdale New Course" about 10 days before the event. I also checked in with Greg a week before for a few hours and we looked at how I was swinging and made sure what I was working on was working and I was setting myself correctly. All was good on the morning of the event and I was striping the ball on the range, high draw, low fade etc. I just felt good in general. I finished tied 3rd with a 142 total, 2 over par, goals 2, 3 & 4 achieved and what a place to do it, Sunningdale!
All the long wet, dark, cold days & nights spent scraping balls off a matt, hours in the gym working on posture belt routines along with strength and cardio fitness training and not to mention the hours over the years Greg & myself have put in at either Pine Ridge or Fox Hills on trackman and 3D, he must get frustrated at times as its generally the same issue we look at, You get out of life what you put in, and I am hoping that Greg has enjoyed our journey as much as I have.
I also have to thank my lovely wife Bops for putting up with the long hours I put in while working in London, arriving home late and then spending a few hours in the gym or on the range/course.
This is my story, all I can say is bring on tour finals day!!!
Greg what's the plan for 2017?"
Richard Corscaden, Scratch Golfer
"I have been working with Greg over recent months and I find that his approach is constructive an informed. What I particularly like is that Greg uses technology and data to support the advice that he is giving me on my technique, this reinforces what he is teaching me and confirms to me that the teaching is working and improving my ability. It the first time I have experience golf teaching that is supported by facts and data. I am hopefully that my scoring will improve when I manage to implement his advice on the course".
